Who collects cookies?

WHAT ARE COOKIES AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR?
Cookies are small files placed by websites on a user's computer as soon as the user accesses a particular site, for the purpose of storing information. Cookies are sent from a web server (which is the computer that is running the site visited) to your browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) and stored on your device; they are then sent back to the website on each subsequent visit.
Without cookies, it would not be possible to carry out certain operations, therefore, in many instances, they are technically necessary to complete the operation undertaken by the user.
Cookies may remain on your computer system for a long time and can contain a unique identification code. This allows sites that use them to keep track of the user's browsing activity on the site itself, for statistical or advertising purposes, i.e. to personalise the user's browsing experience based on the pages they have visited and subsequently show and/or send targeted information.
Among the technical cookies that do not require express consent, as their use is based on the legitimate interest of the Data Controller in the functioning of the website, current legislation includes:
- browsing or session cookies, which ensure that users are able to browse and use the website, thus enabling them to, for example, make purchases or provide authentication to access restricted areas;
- functionality cookies, which allow the user to browse the site according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service delivered.
- statistical cookies where used with the anonymisation option enabled by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site in order to compile general statistical information about the service and its use (legal basis: legitimate interest of the Data Controller in optimising the site);
For profiling/advertising/remarketing cookies—i.e. those designed to profile the user and used to send advertising material in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the internet—, the user's prior consent is required, with the legal basis therefore being the consent expressly provided by the person concerned.
Third-party cookies, i.e. cookies created by a website other than the one the user is currently visiting, are also active on this website.
The third-party cookies used by this site are anonymous and enable information about the pages of each individual site visited to be anonymously collected and recorded, but they do not enable the user/visitor to be identified.
The data collected are used exclusively to track and examine the use of the sites by users and to compile statistics based on information obtained anonymously and through the use of data in aggregate form.
Disabling these cookies will break the functions offered by these third parties.
